Hope v. Cartledge

MAURICE SHAUNDELL HOPE v. WARDEN CARTLEDGE
US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, Shedd, May 22, 2017,
Ineffective Assistance- Under deferential AEDPA analysis, failure to request an alibi instruction was not ineffective assistance of counsel where defense counsel presented an alibi witness and argued alibi at closing.

(Dissent- Thacker- Reasonable probability outcome would be different based on failure to instruct jury that the State was required to disprove an alibi to convict him)
