Due Process – The government must refund fines, fees, court costs, and restitution paid out by a defendant if their conviction is overturned on appeal and the defendant is acquitted or will not be tried again

(Concur- Alito- Decision should be made on fundamental due process and not the balancing test used by the majority)
(Dissent- Thomas- Petitioners should have to prove their right to the money before it is returned)

The refund must be either automatic or with “minimal” paperwork
